Automatic lessons

Some pupils choose to learn in an automatic as opposed to a manual car. The controls in an automatic car are exactly the same as in a manual equivalent, only you don't need to change gears. As such, an automatic car does not have a clutch.

If you've already had a course manual driving lessons and are struggling with changing gears whilst concentrating on other aspects of driving, it may be worth considering switching to automatic lessons.

If you pass your practical test in an automatic car, you'll only be licensed to drive automatic vehicles, however, you'll always have the option to take a manual test in the future, should you wish to do so.

Theory test

Before you are eligible to take your practical driving test, you must first pass your theory test.
If you learn with Cedar School of Motoring, we will provide you with guidance and teaching aids such as apps, books and videos to help ensure you are fully prepared for your theory test.

Pass Plus

Once you become a fully licensed driver, the prospect of driving without supervision can be daunting. There are also certain aspects of driving that are not covered during the beginner lessons, such as motorway driving, so, it's only natural to feel a little out of your depth the first few times you drive alone!

However, after completing a Pass Plus course, you should feel much more confident behind the wheel. It's especially worth considering Pass Plus if you are a brand new driver, as many insurers offer discounts to those who complete the course. Check with your insurer to find out if you'd be eligible.
Pass Plus comprises six modules which are taken over a minimum of six hours.

The course covers the following aspects of driving:
•Urban driving
•Rural roads
•Dual carriageways
•Safe driving in varying weather conditions
•Night driving
•Motorway driving

"I passed first time!
Abed is an amazing instructor. Firstly he was always punctual which is brilliant, I only took lessons with him for 3 months and he taught me so much in comparison to my previous instructor.
He was so kind and well prepared with books, diagrams and videos to help explain certain manoeuvres etc. He is a skilled teacher. Would definitely recommend him!"
